Optiscan Imaging (ASX: OIL) has announced significant progress in a digital pathology study with Australian Clinical Labs (ACL), with more than 80 cases captured to date using its InForm imaging device.

Part of a collaboration agreement with ACL, the study is evaluating the performance of InForm in a high-throughput pathology environment across a range of human tissue samples.

As samples from different organs and disease states move through the laboratory, the device captures cellular-level digital images in real-time that pathologists can evaluate against conventional methods such as standard haematoxylin and eosin-stained glass slides to assess image quality and clinical performance.

By working alongside one of Australia’s largest pathology providers, Optiscan is able to evaluate the platform under routine laboratory conditions, refine its performance with direct input from pathologists, and generate clinical evidence to support product development and future domestic and international regulatory submissions.

Slide-Free Imaging

Optiscan has so far completed slide-free microscopic imaging of 84 cases at ACL’s centralised anatomical pathology laboratory in Western Australia, providing an opportunity for real-world assessment of InForm in an active clinical pathology setting.

The study is expected to generate a comprehensive library of digital images that can be used to support pathologist training and expand Optiscan’s understanding of how InForm can be applied across a broader range of tissue types and pathology workflows to strengthen the platform’s long-term scalability.

Demonstrating how it performs within an active anatomical pathology laboratory provides the opportunity to optimise the platform for routine clinical use before commercial rollout.

ACL is one of the country’s largest providers of hospital-based pathology services, offering Optiscan access to an established pathology ecosystem capable of accelerating validation activities and refining how InForm integrates into existing laboratory workflows.

InForm Clinical Validation

Optiscan managing director Dr Camile Farah said the results to date had materially advanced the clinical validation of InForm technology.

“Successfully imaging more than 80 cases through in just six months is an incredible achievement that demonstrates the maturity and commercial readiness of our platform and highlights the potential impact real-time cellular imaging can have in transforming pathology,” she said.
