Zenith Minerals reports more high-grade results from Split Rocks gold project
Zenith Minerals has confirmed “strong gold mineralisation” at multiple targets within Split Rocks in WA.
Perth-based explorer Zenith Minerals (ASX: ZNC) has reported further high-grade results from the remaining 64 holes of a 100-hole aircore drilling program at the Split Rocks gold project in Western Australia.
Drilling for a total 4,732m was carried out across the five target areas of Dulcie Far North, Dulcie North, Dulcie West, Scott’s Grey and Estrella as a first test for new zones of gold mineralisation and to extend other zones which had been poorly defined by historic wide-spaced or ineffective drilling.
Success at four zones
High-grade mineralisation was outlined at four of the zones, with assays based on initial 4m composite samples.
At Scott’s Grey, the company reported highlights of 8m at 4.1 grams per tonne gold; 4m at 4.8g/t gold; and 10m at 0.9g/t gold to end of hole including 4m at 1.6g/t.
Results at Dulcie North outlined strong near-surface mineralisation which requires follow up, and included 16m at 1.3g/t gold including 4m at 2.9g/t gold; 4m at 1.7g/t gold; and 4m at 1.6g/t gold.
The assays are in addition to those announced last month for the first 36 holes of the program completed at Dulcie Far North, which included 3m at 70g/t gold to end of hole; 8m at 2.5g/t gold; 8m at 1.9g/t gold; and 12m at 1g/t gold including 4m at 1.9g/t gold.
Follow-up work
Infill and extensional aircore drilling is now being planned for Dulcie Far North, Dulcie North, Scott’s Grey and Estrella, and will be followed by reverse circulation drilling at the adjoining targets of Dulcie Laterite Pit and Water Bore.
The mineralised zones will be resampled at 1m intervals.
Dulcie West failed to return any significant results from the aircore program and will not be included in follow-up work.
Prospective nature
Zenith chairman Peter Bird said the drilling results continue to demonstrate the prospective nature of the Split Rocks project.
“We have now identified multiple mineralised structures that extend over a cumulative strike of more than 3km,” he said.
“The next phase of follow-up drilling will focus on testing the continuity of gold mineralisation within the individual shear zones as we work towards building gold inventory.”
