Junior explorer Zenith Minerals (ASX: ZNC) has kicked off a major aircore and extensional drilling campaign at four high-grade gold targets within its Split Rocks project in Western Australia.

Approximately 100 additional holes have been planned to test the Dulcie Far North, Dulcie North, Scott’s Grey and Estrella prospects after earlier aircore drilling (also comprising 100 holes) confirmed and upgraded several targets.

Last week the company reported these assay results which included a 4m intersection at Dulcie Far North grading 10.2 grams per tonne gold, including 2m at 19.8g/t.

Other assay highlights were 9m at 1.8g/t including 2m at 6.2g/t gold from Dulcie Far North, 12m at 1.7g/t including 1m at 7.1g/t and 5m at 2.1g/t from Scott’s Grey, and 8m at 1.2g/t and 2m at 3.7g/t gold from Dulcie North.

This latest round of aircore drilling is anticipated to take about three weeks with results expected in early November.

The program will be followed by reverse circulation drilling on the significant near-surface gold results of the four Dulcie targets, which also include Dulcie Laterite Pit and Water Bore.

Testing continuity of mineralisation ahead of maiden resource estimate

Zenith chairman Peter Bird said a major near-surface gold mineralised shear zone has now been identified over a cumulative strike of more than 3km.

“This phase focuses on testing the continuity of gold mineralisation within the individual shear zones as we work towards building gold inventory later in the year,” he said.

Zenith is targeting a maiden resource early in the 2022 calendar year.

Gold targets at Split Rocks

Zenith completed a major targeting exercise at its 100% owned Split Rocks project last year, expanding its initially identified 12 high-quality gold drilling targets to 18 in the north-eastern sector.

Drilling to date has tested 12 targets with results still awaited for Dulcie West and a further six targets yet to have first pass drill testing.
