Winsome Resources intercepts ‘impressive’ lithium mineralisation at Canadian project
Initial results from the latest drill hole at Winsome Resources’ (ASX: WR1) Adina project in Quebec have returned what managing director Chris Evans describes as “impressive” lithium mineralisation.
Two separate zones were intercepted, with a combined mineralised length of 159.7m.
The first zone of the hole returned 107.6m at 1.34% lithium oxide from 2.3m down hole.
This included higher-grade intervals of 20.7m at 1.52% and 30m at 2.21%.
A second zone, starting at 124.9m down hole, returned 52.1m at 0.7% lithium oxide, including 30m at 1.08%.
Assays back initial visual estimates of mineralisation
Mr Evans said the “impressive” assays provide proof of the company’s previous visual estimates of mineralisation.
He added that the result “speaks of a world-class lithium project and paves the way for the much-expanded drill program now planned for Adina”.
Adina project mapped seven years ago
The Adina lithium project was mapped in 2016 and a 2km potential strike zone was indicated by a pegmatite ridge.
Two years later Winsome followed up with a 10-hole maiden drilling program for a total of 1,726m.
That initial drilling returned several well mineralised, although narrow, intervals of mineralisation, warranting additional field prospecting and mapping.
This latest result, though, confirmed that spodumene pegmatites appear to follow a large and continuous anomaly.
The helicopter-supported drilling program at Adina has been extended significantly from the original plan of 5,000m to more than 20,000m.
Lithium portfolio
Adina is one of the four lithium projects Winsome owns in the James Bay province of Quebec, with the others being Decelles, Cancet and Sirmac-Clappier.
The company has said previously that all four projects either contain or are targets for shallow, high-grade lithium deposits.
Additionally, Adina offers a co-development opportunity with Cancet, with both assets the most advanced within Winsome’s portfolio.
The most recent acquisition, Decelles, is adjacent to the Cadillac lithium discovery made by Vision Lithium (CVE: VLI).
