Software developer UNITH (ASX: UNT) has revealed the latest progress made to its digital human platform which enables clients to converse with digital humans generated through artificial intelligence (AI).

In the last week, UNITH has launched its new website and confirmed its roadmap for 2023 with commercial and technical pathways heading towards a soft launch of a phase three self-service platform by year end.

In today’s update, the company has announced new server upgrades which include making the bandwidth usage 15 times more efficient and improving the video synthesis process to enable digital humans to load four times faster.

The server capacity has expanded to enable global clients to implement a digital human to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and interact with multiple customers concurrently without latency.

The server upgrade also includes a new backend dashboard designed to improve the client experience and directly supports the scalability of the platform. Via this dashboard, clients can upload documentation to the platform that will drive their digital humans as well as provide analytics of their performance.

GPT integration advances

UNITH is currently undertaking the first phase of its integration with AI technology GPT. Testing has confirmed the platform’s ability to generate correct answers from small data seta such as Wikipedia pages and company websites.

The company said testing of larger data sets such as employee handbooks, operating manuals and company policies are expected to be completed during the June quarter.

This phase of development will also include optimising conversation features and adapting them for each vertical by adjusting the GPT prompt to the UNITH platform.

Improvements in human likeness

UNITH has revealed improvements in its technology’s ‘human likeness’ as it aims to replicate facial responses, reactions and attentiveness. The company’s current development focus has been on lip movements and empathy generation with 150 additional synthetic audio profiles now added to the platform library to refine the quality of voice and intonation used in natural speech.

The library now has more than 750 unique voices that can be engaged, and digital humans can converse in more than 60 languages.

“As we roll out these new features into the digital human platform, we look forward to creating new commercial opportunities by offering the enhanced digital human platform to current and future clients as conversational AI solutions that can solve their business challenges,” UNITH chief executive officer Idan Schmorak said.

In line with its 2023 roadmap, the company is targeting improvements to head and body movements in the second half of the calendar year.
