Tietto Minerals (ASX: TIE) had added key people to what it now regards at the best mine-building team in West Africa as it increases development momentum at its Abujar gold project in Cote d’Ivoire.

The company says it expects to make further staff announcements in coming weeks as it continues its recruiting program with only one major step — a mining convention signed by the government — to be completed to continue its ascendance to becoming a producer at its 3.02-million-ounce project.

Meanwhile, the company’s June quarter works program in progress includes front end engineering and design, while activities has begun on site and camp construction.

The first batch of appointments brings in four people with many years of experience within the West Africa mining scene.

New staff already on the job

They have all begun working for the company and are in Cote d’Ivoire preparing for early-stage mine development.

The earthworks manager Guillaume Hubert has been involved in earthworks programs for more than 30 years, with the last 10 years being projects in West Africa. He has completed projects for London-based Nordgold, Canada’s Endeavour Mining and at the Sanbrado project operated by West African Resources (ASX: WAF).

Also working at the Sambrado project was Daniel Kotzee, who now joins Tietto Minerals as construction manager for Abujar. He has previously held senior roles at Nordgold and Resolute Mining (ASX: RSG). He has worked in West Africa for more than 15 years.

Coming on board as commercial manager is Hesbon Okwayo. He was until recently holding the same position with West African Resources in Burkina Faso at Sanbrado. He began his career in East Africa on construction projects in Kenya and Tanzania before moving to West Africa with Lycopodium (ASX: LYL). He then moved to Bouly project in Burkino Faso.

The fourth appointment is the superintendent of HSE (health, safety and environment), which is being filled by Beatrice Godde, a qualified emergency nurse with 20 years of experience in West Africa. She also held senior HSE roles for Nordgold and West African Resources.

DFS on track

Meanwhile Tietto continues to negotiate with the Cote d’Ivoire government for the Abujar mining convention, which is the final regulatory step to be achieved.

The company has already secured all necessary mining and environmental approvals.

The definitive feasibility study is on track for release in the September quarter.

A mill has been secured and engineering design has been awarded to Perth’s Primero Group.
