Four infill drilling holes completed by Tesoro Resources (ASX: TSO) at its El Zorro project in Chile have intersected multiple gold mineralised zones.

The assays from the Ternera prospect have continued to add to the company’s gold inventory.

Ternera has now been defined over an area of 800m by 750m, to a depth of 300m — and remains open in all directions.

One hole returned 23m at 0.82 grams per tonne gold, including two higher grade intervals — 5m at 1.47g/t and 6m at 1.04g/t.

The second hole’s assays showed four separate gold zones: 2.8m at 2.06g/t, 1m at 4.39g/t, 4m at 1.17g/t, and 8.1m at 1.12g/t (and this last including 2m at 3.72g/t).

The next hole hit 20m at 0.84g/t, including 6m at 1.49g/t and 1m at 3.86g/t.

The last of the four holes returned 61m at 0.75g/t (including 10m at 2.61g/t), 4m at 5.34g/t and 2m at 2.75g/t

Continuity of grade confirmed

Tesoro managing director Zeff Reeves said these latest results demonstrate the continuity of grade, not only along, but also between the mineralised faults at the Ternera prospect.

Each hole has added to the gold inventory at El Zorro.

“The extensive and ongoing drill program is proving extremely beneficial in uncovering the extent of the Ternera deposit,” said Mr Reeves.

“We believe the project has huge potential, with Ternera being the first of five targets identified at El Zorro, and our confidence in the exploration model continues to increase.”

Tesoro notes that, in addition to intersecting high-grade fault structures, the latest results confirm continuity of grade between faults within secondary mineralised structures.

So far, 37 holes at El Zorro have been completed with assays for 23 of those still outstanding.

However, the company says assay labs are experiencing delays due to COVID-19 restrictions, made more complicated by increased exploration activity in this region of Chile.

Tesoro has confirmed that gold assay capacity in Santiago will be available from late this month.

More step-out drilling planned

Additional step-out holes to the south of Ternera are now being drilled in order to expand further the mineralised footprint.

Two diamond rigs are working 24 hours a day and, given the scale of Ternera, this program is expected to run into December.

The El Zorro project is located 140km by road from the city of Copiapo in northern Chile.

Tesoro has been focusing on the coastal Cordillerra region in Chile, host to multiple large copper and gold mines.
