Chile gold explorer Tesoro Resources (ASX: TSO) reports that drilling at its El Zorro project has continued to increase the size of the key Ternera deposit with the discovery of a new zone.

Infill and extensional drilling at Ternera have further expanded the resource in all directions.

Tesoro has received another 22 assays from holes completed recently. Assays from a further 22 holes remain outstanding.

In total, the company has drilled 290 diamond holes for a total 95,601m.

‘The more we drill, the more we define’

These latest assay results showing multiple shallow intercepts have defined a 700m-long, near surface gold zone to the west of the Ternera deposit, with one drill bit hitting mineralisation just 10m down hole.

Tesoro managing director Zeff Reeves commented that the latest results confirm and expand multiple shallow gold zones on the edges and within the Ternera deposit.

“Ternera is shaping up as a significant deposit with multiple gold zones, scale, continuity all coming together and the more we drill, the more we define,” he added.

Mr Reeves said that, with the deposit open in all directions, there is significant potential to expand Ternera.

Multiple extensions from latest hole reports

At Western Ternera, one hole hit 1.2m at 10.2 grams per tonne gold from 10km down hole.

Another hole there returned 22.8m at 1.96g/t gold, beginning 32.2m from surface, and containing higher grade intervals of 1m at 25g/t gold and 3m at 4.03g/t gold.

At Southern Ternera, one of the holes returned 19m at 1.4g/t gold, including 2.83m at 7.20g/t gold.

Infill drilling resulted in several gold hits and multiple mineralised zones. One, Hole ZDDH0265, drilled through 76.95m of mineralisation averaging 0.62g/t, but with three higher grade intervals: 5.27m at 1.38g/t gold (from 59m), 20.75m at 1.51g/t gold and 10.75m at 2.4g/t gold.

Coastal Cordillera region

Tesoro was established with a strategy of acquiring, exploring, and developing mining projects in the Coastal Cordillera region of Chile.

The Coastal Cordillera region is host to multiple world class copper and gold mines, has well established infrastructure, service providers and an experienced mining workforce.

Tesoro notes that large areas of the Coastal Cordillera remain unexplored due to the previously unconsolidated nature of mining concession ownership.
