Engineering and containment management solutions provider SRJ Technologies (ASX: SRJ) has collared a contract to supply its BoltEx inventory to facilities owned by one of the world’s largest gas and liquefied natural gas producers, Qatar Petroleum.

Qatar Petroleum owns a wide range of oil and gas processing facilities in the offshore Qatar region.

SEMBCORP Industries awarded the contract to SRJ and one of its local partners EnerMech, which will see the duo deliver flange management services including a number of hot-bolting scopes using SRJ’s BoltEx.

Work will be undertaken on facilities in Qatar’s Al-Shaheen oil field as part of the phase two Gallaf project, which involves a number of tie-ins prior to a shutdown due to begin in October.

This contract is expected to pave the way for SRJ to demonstrate how its BoltEx can be used to reduce required work resulting in reduced costs and shorter downtime of shutdowns.

SRJ managing director of EMEA Roger Smith said demand for hot bolting to rectify flange integrity issues is growing as operators and contractors face “severe cost and schedule challenges” of maintaining aging assets.

“SRJ is placing itself at the forefront of this market with superior technology and agile customer service.”

Mr Smith added that although the initial order was immaterial from a financial perspective, it was considered “strategically important”.

The contract establishes SRJ as an integrity solutions provider for one of the world’s largest gas and LNG producers.

SRJ solutions

SRJ’s solutions aim to elevate a customer’s integrity management performance with its products and consulting services.

The company develops and distributes weld-free coupling and leak containment solutions for oil, gas, LNG and mining industries.

This includes a range of accredited products that are design to maintain and assure the integrity of pressure containment systems.

SRJ also offers asset integrity consulting services to assist customers in better understanding operational risks and where best to focus resources to minimise these.

Using its network of pre-qualified providers and manufacturers, SRJ is able to provide solutions to customers worldwide.

Growing client base of majors

Today’s agreement to supply BoltEx inventory to Qatar Petroleum follows similar contracts with other major global companies including Japan-based Mitsui & Co, and the world’s largest floating production storage and offloading unit fleet operator MODEC.

Mitsui & Co is an investor in SRJ and introduced the company to MODEC and Australia’s largest oil and gas producer Woodside Petroleum (ASX: WPL) during the March quarter.

SRJ also has a strategic partnership with Australian company Piping Specialty Supply Service (PSSS) via a memorandum of understanding that was inked in the December quarter.

During the March period, PSSS rented SRJ’s BoltEx Bolt Exchange clamps for a bolting scoping Victorian power plant.

PSSS uses SRJ’s parts to service other customers that include Santos, UGL, Origin and ConocoPhillips.

As well as providing parts, SRJ is providing consulting services to global floating production and mooring systems provider SBM Offshore.

This contract will see SRJ provide a range of asset integrity consulting workstreams.
