Southern Cross Electrical Engineering (ASX: SXE) has been awarded $125 million in new contracts across Australia’s data centre, commercial, manufacturing, resources and water sectors.

Managing director Graeme Dunn said the contracts were a clear demonstration of the company’s exposure to local infrastructure expenditure around the country.

The contracts were won by a number of the company’s Australian subsidiaries.

NextDC work

Electrical and communications solutions group Heyday has been contracted by Multiplex Constructions for additional work at NEXTDC’s S3 Sydney Data Centre in New South Wales.

The company will complete an electrical design and construction works package including the fitout of high-voltage power system modules and the installation of client-supplied electrical equipment.

Work on the contract – Heyday’s sixth substantial project at the S3 Sydney Data Centre – is due to commence in February 2025, with completion scheduled for December 2026.

The Cutaway events centre

In collaboration with Infrastructure NSW, new subsidiary MDE Group will complete comprehensive electrical and communication services for The Cutaway cultural events centre in Barangaroo.

MDE will be responsible for installing a range of critical infrastructure elements across the site including a new mains switchboard and specialist feature lighting within the event space to accommodate a variety of events.

The company will also ensure existing security infrastructure remains operational while communications rooms are demolished and rebuilt to the new specifications.

North East Link project

Trivantage Manufacturing has been awarded a contract to supply low-voltage equipment for Melbourne’s North East Link highway scheme.

The package includes combinations of main switchboards, distribution boards, pump control panels and UPS systems.

The switchboards will be manufactured by Trivantage and supplied over the next two years from its facility located 5 kilometres from the project.

Western Harbour Tunnel

Trivantage has also been awarded a contract to supply low-voltage switchboards and transformers required for the Western Harbour Tunnel Package 2 in Sydney.

The package includes combinations of main switchboards, motor control centres, transformers, power factor correction units and distribution boards.

The switchboards will again be manufactured at Trivantage’s facilities in Sydney and Brisbane and will be supplied from late 2025.

WA contracts

Finally, the company’s subsidiary SCEE Electrical has been engaged for two separate projects in Western Australia.

SCEE has been awarded the Mt Keith West network upgrade project in WA’s Goldfields region, as well as an infrastructure project for the Alkimos Seawater desalination plant.

Work on both projects, which involves a variety of installation, upgrades and system testing, is scheduled for completion throughout 2025.
