Home security technology company Scout Security (ASX: SCT) has achieved first sales of its HD camera products after recently launching them on Amazon in Australia.

The Scout alarm indoor and outdoor HD camera is wireless and selling on Amazon.com.au for $59, which includes one month of free video cloud storage.

After the free month is up, 14-day cloud storage is set at $5 a month. All cloud storage revenue goes directly to Scout.

Scout shareholders have also been invited to contact the company to secure a single use 50%-off discount code on the cameras.

Amazon Alexa

Via the Amazon Alexa Fund, Amazon is a Scout shareholder and long-time partner – supporting the company’s plans to expand in the Australian market.

The Scout technology is integrated with Amazon Alexa, which enables users to view their cameras’ live feeds and use two-way audio via the Alexa app and enabled devices.

A Scout app is available in the Apple App and Google Play stores and allows “quick and simple” set-up of the cameras.

The cameras include automatic night vision, adjustable motion and sound sensitivity detection, recordable live clips and adjustable video quality for lower internet speed connections.

Additionally, these Wi-Fi motion-based cameras do not require a security hub or external sensors and can be used by any customer with a Wi-Fi 6 router.

“The Scout HD indoor and outdoor camera is an incredible device, both functionally and design-wise, and runs on our state-of-the-art mobile application with Alexa integration,” Scout chief executive officer Ryan McCall said.

“We believe the combination of features, price and functionality make our HD camera the best offer available in a competitive market.”

Australian market

Mr McCall said launching on Amazon is the first step towards bring its full security as a service platform to the Australian market.

To facilitate this, Scout is in discussions with several Australian internet service providers (ISP) and value-added resellers (VAR).

“I expect the combined efforts of our US-based team and Australian-based board members will soon lead to our full SaaS solution launching in Australia with a local ISP or VAR partner,” Mr McCall added.
