Home security company Scout Security (ASX: SCT) has confirmed it will launch its indoor and outdoor high-definition cameras on Amazon’s Australian marketplace before month end.

Amazon is a Scout shareholder and long-time partner of the company.

The launch will represent Scout’s first step towards entering the Australian market.

Scout has completed the initial setup of its e-commerce store front and is working towards finalising the camera product page, with inventory currently being transferred to Amazon in Australia via logistics service Fulfillment by Amazon.

Cameras will be priced at $59.99 each and will include one month of free video cloud storage.

Pricing for 14-day cloud storage will be set at $5 per month, with all storage revenue flowing to Scout.

Alexa integration

Scout’s products will integrate with Amazon’s cloud-based voice service Alexa to empower users to view live feeds and utilise two-way audio using the Alexa app and on Alexa-enabled smart devices.

Additional camera features include automatic night vision, adjustable motion and sound sensitivity detection, adjustable video quality for lower speed internet connections and recordable live clips via Scout cloud storage.

Australian market line-up

Scout chief executive officer Ryan McCall said the cameras would be the first in a line-up planned for the Australian market.

“The launch of our camera, in conjunction with our long-time partner and shareholder Amazon, is only the first step of our planned expansion into Australia,” he said.

“I expect the combined efforts of our US-based team and Australian-based board members will soon lead to our full security-as-a-service solution launching in Australia with a local internet service provider or VAR (value-added reseller) partner.”

Initial discussions

Mr McCall said the company had commenced initial discussions with several Australian ISPs to bring its security solutions down under.

“Wi-Fi motion-based whole home security – which is the next generation of app-based home security and requires no security hub or external sensors – can and will be delivered within Australia to any Scout customer with a Wi-Fi 6 router,” he said.

“This significant technology advance provide all Australian users with access to a ‘light’ home security system which can be built up over time.”
