Revolver Resources (ASX: RRR) will ramp-up drilling at its Dianne copper project in North Queensland after new results indicated the presence of clear surface anomalies overlapping identified electromagnetic (EM) drill targets near to the deposit.

Two diamond holes drilled for a total 1,141 metres focused on an EM target 200m beneath the Dianne Deeps high-grade massive sulphide discovery positioned below, or on a south plunge, from the main deposit and within the same broader prospective stratigraphic and structural setting.

Both holes intersected interpreted extensions of the massive sulphide horizon at Dianne, which is represented as brecciated and recrystallised chert with minor pyrite mineralisation within a broader sequence of shales interbedded with sandstone and contemporaneous volcanics.

Extension of geology

Revolver said the holes confirmed an extension of the prospective geology and suggested the potential presence of a ‘proximal’ VMS (volcanogenic massive sulphide) horizon pre-Dianne massive sulphide lens.

One of the holes intersected a number of metre-scale zones of well-developed quartz-carbonate veined stockwork (breccia).

These zones displayed a varying presence of disseminated sulphide (galena-pyrite-sphalerite-arsenopyrite) interpreted to be of orogenic gold vein-style in origin.

Samples have been submitted for assay to test the gold-bearing potential.

First step-out look

Revolver managing director Pat Williams said drilling at Dianne Deeps has given the company its first step-out look at the stratigraphy and provided evidence of the right VMS deposit environments beyond the Dianne deposit.

“We are seeing encouraging geological sequences and evidence of proximal massive sulphide occurrences distinct from that at Dianne, giving confidence to known clustering effects with VMS deposits,” he said.

“Importantly, we have located the Dianne high strain zone which identifies over 20 EM drill targets conducive to VMS-hosted deposits and have secured a second rig to accelerate preliminary drill testing to unlock the region’s true potential.”

Regional VMS targets

The Dianne project is centred around the Dianne copper deposit which is hosted in deformed Palaeozoic shale and greywacke of the Hodgkinson Formation.

Revolver is currently exploring for regional VMS targets on the “strong geological rationale” that these deposit types often occur in clusters.

Over the past three months, the company has completed extensive geophysical, geochemical and field geology work aimed at defining and refining near-mine VMS targets along key geological horizons.

Mr Williams said the immediate region around the current Dianne mineralisation continues to be a priority focus of the company’s targeted exploration work.
