Revolver Resources closing-in on high-grade copper at Dianne project
Brisbane-based Revolver Resources (ASX: RRR) is about to launch its summer drilling program, with a diamond rig testing a strong anomaly below the historic pit at its Dianne project in Queensland.
The initial program will target the strong conductive anomaly immediately beneath the pit floor where recent drilling confirmed copper grades of up 19.8%.
The Dianne mine, worked as both an open pit and underground operation, was in production between 1979 and 1983, during which time 63,758 tonnes of ore was treated at an average copper grade of 22.7%.
The project is located 165km northwest of Cairns. No previous drilling had been undertaken below 165m before Revolver’s programs.
‘Systematic’ drill program planned across all targets
The company says there are several other “compelling” conductive anomalies identified through recent geophysical surveys across the tenement.
Clearances have been received from the traditional owner and there will be a continuous drilling program through to the end of 2022.
Field-based exploration programs have been going on at Dianne continuously since April.
A systematic testing program of one or two holes at each will be carried out, followed by electromagnetic test work. Step out drilling will follow.
Methodical exploration since IPO
Managing Director Pat Williams said that, in the 12 months since Revolver’s initial public offering (IPO), the company has worked methodically across the entire Dianne project, establishing credible new datasets.
These datasets will continue to grow to give the company detailed technical understanding of what he describes as a “vastly under-explored region”.
“We are the first to undertake modern exploration activities, utilising the benefits of leading-edge technologies in this region,” Mr Williams continued.
“Revolver has been the first to discover evidence of a clear regional trend running through the entire exploration tenement.”
Exploration team has necessary skills for challenging terrain
Dianne is located within the Queensland dry tropics, where between November and April the weather is dominated by high rainfall and average daytime temperatures above 35°C.
The company says its exploration team has the skill and experience to work safely in this rugged terrain, which includes outcropping rocky ridges.
The diamond drill rig in the new program has the capacity to go below 1,000m from surface.
The rig will drill two diamond holes below the old pit floor, with 1,000m scheduled for the program, after which other targets will be tested.
