Resolution Minerals (ASX: RML) has numerous targets to follow up after a topography interpretation confirmed the presence of hundreds of historical antimony and gold workings at its Drake East project in New South Wales.

The company is planning to move quickly to take advantage of the Drake East upside following the receipt of an interim report on the recently acquired high-quality Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) interpretation.

It expects the final LiDAR report to be completed within seven to 10 days.

Numerous prospects

Drake East is currently known to host 15 antimony, 50 gold and three copper prospects, with the antimony prospects spread over an area 15 kilometres wide.

LiDAR interpretations have so far identified 534 pits, 27 shafts and 15 adits across the project area, while also unveiling 56 linear features and veins across Drake East with a collective strike length of 4,150m.

GeoCloud, which carried out the Drake East studies for Resolution Minerals, completed a similar interpretation on the adjacent project area for Legacy Minerals (ASX: LGM) that resulted in a more than doubling of the known historical mines and workings.

Accurate geolocation

Executive director Aharon Zaetz said the company was able to accurately geolocate the mine workings using LiDAR, enabling the interpretation of the spatial distribution of these historical workings.

“The LiDAR interpretation to date has provided Resolution [with] a glimpse into the antimony and gold potential of Drake East,” Mr Zaetz said.

“The [more than] 500 historical mine workings that we have so far identified with LiDAR automatically become targets, which we will prioritise and move quickly to map and sample those for evidence of mineralisation.”

“We will wait for the LiDAR interpretation to be completed but even these interim results are beyond our expectations.”

Mr Zaetz said the company would need to complete further work in the form of mapping and sampling to determine whether these veins host antimony and/or gold mineralisation.
