Resolution Minerals (ASX: RML) is preparing to follow up the promising results received from a final Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data reprocessing and interpretation report for its Drake East antimony-gold project in New South Wales.

The report, provided by LiDAR data reprocessing and interpretation specialist service provider GeoCloud Analytics, has identified 791 historic workings including 742 pits, 33 shafts and 16 adits.

Subsequent interpretation found that the workings generally coincide with the 70 antimony and gold prospects known to occur within the Drake East project, as recorded in the NSW Geological Survey’s MinView online data portal.

Ground-truthing planned

Executive director Aharon Zaetz said the planned next step at Drake East is to ground-truth the mine workings that are considered significant and those relating to potentially economic levels of antimony and/or gold and/or copper.

“The final LiDAR interpretation now reviewed by Riviere has provided Resolution further insight into the antimony and gold potential of Drake East.”

“The widespread placer gold workings are in their own right a valid and exciting exploration target; that they strongly indicate a very local source of gold is equally exciting.”

“Then there is of course the antimony and antimony-gold vein potential, which is very significant, believed to be part of the same mineral system that included Legacy Minerals’ (ASX: LGM) adjacent Lunatic antimony field.”

Desktop reviews likely

Resolution expects the planned programs will include a desktop review to prioritise the mine workings for field work, including geological mapping and geochemical rock chip sampling.

A similar desk-top review will also assess the 70 MinView mineral prospects and the placer gold potential of the project.

The company also intends to map and sample high-priority mine workings, MinView prospects and new targets.

The Drake East project hosts high-grade antimony, gold and silver mineralisation including peak values of 5.72% antimony, 60.9 grams per tonne gold and 214g/t silver identified from sampling of the various historical workings.
