After securing a rig, ASX debutant Recharge Metals (ASX: REC) will begin drilling its Brandy Hill South copper project in Western Australia’s Murchison Province before the end of the month.

Impact Drilling Services will undertake the campaign, which will comprise an initial 2,000m of slimline reverse circulation drilling.

The initial drilling campaign will be followed by geophysical surveys and metallurgical test work, with more RC and diamond drilling scheduled for the March quarter next year.

Drilling will test areas that were historically drilled to verify previous assays. The program will also aim to define mineralised extensions along strike.

Previous drilling at Brandy Hill South returned 75m at 0.55% copper, with the hole ending in mineralisation.

This broad intercept contained a 23m interval grading 1.29% copper, 3.4 grams per tonne silver and 300 parts per million tungsten.

Other notable results from historic drilling were 12m at 1.1% copper, 14.9g/t silver and 0.22g/t gold, including 1m at 2.1% copper, 2.15g/t gold, and 112g/t silver; and 16m at 0.48% copper, including 3m at 1.47% copper, 8.7g/t silver and 445ppm tungsten.

Brandy Hill South comprises 100 square kilometres of tenements and is about 58km from Yalgoo.

Recharge noted the project is 18km from Silver Lake Resources’ (ASX: SLR) Deflector gold and copper operation, and the area is “well serviced” with infrastructure.

ASX listing and other projects

Recharge was admitted to the official list on the ASX earlier this month after raising $5 million in its IPO.

In addition to Brandy Hill South, Recharge has two other projects – Hyden and Bohemia.

Hyden is located near the town of the same name in WA’s South West. It is prospective for nickel, copper and cobalt and comprises two sub-projects – Hyden and Tampia East.

The wider Hyden project encompasses 465sq km in the region and hosts a 15km-long magnetic anomaly. The company considers its geological setting as analogous to the Forrestania nickel belt, which is 70km to the east.

Previous drilling at Hyden returned an intercept of 12m at 1,327ppm copper, 263ppm nickel and 1,076ppm zinc from 12m.

Up in WA’s west Kimberley region lies Recharge’s Bohemia Downs project.

This project covers 540sq km and is about 100km from Fitzroy Crossing.

Previous exploration at Bohemia Downs unearthed 17m at 1.44% lead and zinc, including 4m at 3.43% lead and zinc; 6m at 3.09% lead and zinc; and 2m at 3.05% lead and zinc, plus 11g/t silver.
