Pure Hydrogen appoints former NT chief minister Adam Giles as non-executive director

Clean energy-focused company Pure Hydrogen Corporation (ASX: PH2) has appointed former chief minister of the Northern Territory, the Honourable Adam Giles, to the position of non-executive director.
Mr Giles has a strong political and corporate career and will bring experience in regulatory compliance, corporate governance and leadership to the role.
His extensive background in energy, infrastructure and resources in the public and private sectors is expected to add significant value to Pure Hydrogen’s mission to become Australia’s first choice and lowest cost hydrogen supplier and producer.
Since leaving politics, Mr Giles has held several senior corporate roles including a long-term engagement with Hancock Prospecting where he is currently the interim chief executive officer of Hancock Agriculture and subsidiary beef producer S Kidman & Co.
He is also the non-executive chairman at Locksley Resources (ASX: LKY) and non-executive director of private company Norcliffe Mining Services.
Hydrogen ecosystem
Pure Hydrogen managing director Scott Brown said Mr Giles’ appointment was another step towards delivering on a goal to build Australia’s hydrogen ecosystem.
“We believe Adam’s extensive network and knowledge of government processes can greatly assist our company as we embark on the next phase of our hydrogen development strategy,” he said.
“The board looks forward to working with Mr Giles as we begin to commercialise several exciting project initiatives including the Moreton Bay hydrogen hub and our portfolio of hydrogen vehicle assets.”
Political career
Mr Giles was the 10th chief minister of the Northern Territory, holding office from 2013 until 2016 with additional portfolios of economic development, major projects, transport, infrastructure, indigenous affairs and northern Australia.
During his time in government, he initiated several major infrastructure projects including the rollout of solar power to indigenous communities and the establishment of the interstate gas pipeline between the Northern Territory and eastern Australia.
With an accomplished political career and key project experience in the domestic resources and energy industries, Mr Giles’ skills are believed to be “ideally aligned” to provide strategic advice to advance Pure Hydrogen’s project pipeline.
They will complement the company’s knowledge of executing regulatory approvals, attaining licenses and permits and commercialising infrastructure to assist the development of a hydrogen production hub network across Australia.
In the near-term, Mr Giles is expected to support the development of the Moreton Bay hydrogen hub where Pure Hydrogen recently secured a site and project partner to provide the technology for the proposed waste-to-clean-energy facility.
