Provaris Energy strengthens green hydrogen strategy with Total Eren collaboration

Provaris Energy and Total Eren will co-operate on developing green hydrogen transport solutions to Asia and European markets.
Provaris Energy (ASX: PV1) has strengthened its green hydrogen strategy in Europe and Asia with a memorandum of understanding with French-based Total Eren to collaborate on green hydrogen projects across the world.
Global renewable energy independent power producer Total Eren will further its co-operation with Provaris in developing solutions to transport green hydrogen with a focus on Asia and Europe.
The duo will seek to use Provaris’ compressed hydrogen storage and supply chain technology.
“Total Eren is an ambitious renewable energy company with a global portfolio of green hydrogen projects under development for import into markets that include Europe and Asia,” Provaris managing director and chief executive officer Martin Carolan explained.
Mr Carolan said that discussions over time with Total Eren had identified a “strong alignment” between the companies on commercial and technical benefits of compression for transporting and storing hydrogen.
“We look forward to a closer relationship to facilitate and accelerate the deliver of the first fleet of GH2 carriers.”
Hydrogen collaboration scope
Under the MoU scope, the companies will work together on identifying and assessing Total Eren’s green hydrogen projects that can utilise Provaris’ GH2 carriers for bulk transport of compressed hydrogen.
The duo will focus on markets that require imported pure gaseous green hydrogen.
Total Eren specialises in developing, financing, constructing, operating and maintaining long-term renewable energy plants across the world.
These are primarily powered by solar and wind, with several large-scale green hydrogen projects also established in Australia, Africa (Morocco, Egypt, and Mauritania), and Latin America (Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Colombia).
The companies will also identify opportunities of using the GH2 carriers to import hydrogen into Europe and Asia.
Another element to the collaboration will involve assessing opportunities for a bulk compressed hydrogen storage solution using Provaris floating storage design concepts.
GH2 Carriers
Shoring-up Provaris’ integrated compressed hydrogen supply chain solutions is its GH2 carriers.
The maiden carrier H2Neo will be Provaris’ first ship capable of transporting compressed green hydrogen and is on track for key milestones later this year including design approval for construction.
Provaris is also developing the larger H2Max carrier.
