Pointerra appointed as subcontractor in US Army’s GRIDS IV geospatial research program

Perth-based software company Pointerra (ASX: 3DP) has won the role of subcontractor to US technology company Leidos to support its participation in the US$499 million Geospatial Research, Integration, Development and Support (GRIDS) IV program initiated by the US Army.
Eight prime contract teams including Leidos will take part in the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity program, which will run through to May 2030 under the management of the Army Geospatial Centre (AGC).
Leidos and the other prime contract teams will commence negotiations with the AGC over the coming months to determine individual contract terms and potential tasking opportunities.
Geospatial research
GRIDS IV aims to provide advanced services to enhance the Army’s geospatial capabilities for warfighters, commanders and other Department of Defense components.
It builds on three previous iterations (GRIDS I–III) and emphasises AI, machine learning and rapid data integration to address modern warfare’s demand for real-time intelligence.
The new data will support missions such as terrain mapping, enemy movement prediction, autonomous vehicle guidance and disaster relief for combatant commands in North America, Africa and the Indo-Pacific.
Pointerra3D deployment
Under the terms of the contract, Pointerra will have the opportunity to deploy its Pointerra3D cloud-based, AI-driven digital twin platform if the Leidos team successfully bids for GRIDS IV task orders.
Pointerra expects the platform to add considerable value by delivering situational awareness and mission-critical geospatial insight at unprecedented speed and scale.
Revenue generated for Pointerra will depend on specific task orders being issued to Leidos by the AGC.
Real-time data delivery
GRIDS IV aims to address gaps in real-time data delivery and system integration in the provision of seamless geospatial tools for complex battlefields and humanitarian missions.
Pointerra remains optimistic about the potential to support the AGC, the US Army Corps of Engineers and other key defense stakeholders through the use of Pointerra3D.
The company said new Pointerra3D software customers in the North American survey, mapping and defence markets had fuelled the company’s recent growth, along with an increasing allocation of data and licences by existing customers.
