Orient West drilling has returned strong results beyond the area covered by Iltani Resources’ 2025 mineral resource. Managing Director Donald Garner discusses how the results may feed into the next resource calculation, alongside planned drilling, ore-sorting test work and the scoping study.
Key Highlights
- Orient West results followed up OR137, which hit a VTEM target at the end of 2025, and are to be included in the next Orient resource calculation.
- About 45 to 50 holes from the 110-hole programme remained at the AST lab in Townsville awaiting results.
- TOMRA ore-sorting test work was scheduled for 7 and 8 October, followed by flotation test work at Core Metallurgy in Brisbane.
- Garner described a hypothetical case where ore sorting could reduce annual plant throughput from 5 million tonnes to 0.5 to 1 million tonnes. The potential cost and plant benefits remain subject to test work.
- Iltani is targeting an early 2027 scoping study and plans diamond drilling at Isabel.
- Boonmoo returned no material hit. Union Jack drilling intersected sulfides, mainly pyrrhotite and arsenopyrite, which were not the target sulfides; down-hole work is planned to help guide follow-up drilling.
