Pioneer Lithium appoints current CEO to role of managing director

Newly-listed explorer Pioneer Lithium (ASX: PLN) has announced that current chief executive officer Clinton Booth will transition to the role of managing director, effective immediately.
Mr Booth brings more than 20 years’ experience in the mining and energy sectors to Pioneer, including senior positions with Fortescue Future Industries and Galaxy Resources (now Allkem, ASX: AKE).
During his time at Fortescue, he assumed several roles covering early-stage project development activities including global land and tenement acquisition and global permitting and approvals.
He headed the company’s project activities in North America and was later appointed global head of integration with responsibility for the transition and integration of mergers, acquisitions and joint venture transactions.
Key role
At Galaxy Resources, Mr Booth played a key role in identifying and delivering improved financial returns for the feasibility study of the James Bay hard rock project in Canada.
He also worked on advancing the Sal de Vida brine project in Argentina from feasibility into construction, and helped reduce operating expenditure and improve production at the company’s hard rock mine in Western Australia.
Pioneer confirmed the terms of Mr Booth’s employment agreement would remain unchanged with the addition of standard director fees.
“Outstanding result”
Chairman Robert Martin said it was an “outstanding result” for shareholders that Mr Booth had accepted the role of managing director.
“Clinton brings a vast amount of experience to the board and management teams and has been influential in driving the rapid progress of our projects in such a short period from listing [last month],” he said.
“The board and I look forward to working with Clinton as he leads Pioneer from exploration into a development phase.”
Director resignation
Pioneer non-executive director Gerard O’Donovan has confirmed his resignation, allowing him to focus on his role as managing director with Battery Age Minerals (ASX: BM8).
“The board thanks Gerard for his efforts in supporting our initial public offer process and we wish him all the best as he focuses on his current role,” Mr Martin said.
