Ordell Minerals (ASX: ORD) has received positive results from drilling at its Barimaia project in Western Australia that support an earlier analysis the McNabs East prospect may contain a large zone of gold mineralisation.

The diamond drilling (DD) undertaken in July successfully intersected extensive gold mineralisation from the eastern side of McNabs East, which remains open along strike and untested down the interpreted plunge of the mineralisation.

The program, which aimed to define significant extensions to the zone of near-surface gold mineralisation at McNabs East, returned a “bonanza” hit of 0.3 metres at 109.89 grams per tonne gold from 175.4m.

Potential New Drill Target

First-pass shallow reverse circulation (RC) drilling Ordell completed over the Barimaia Intrusion has opened up a potential new drill target, recording a significant shallow intercept approximately 1km east of The Furnace prospect.

Ordell is now preparing to quickly follow-up these drilling successes with exploration over coming months aimed at further expanding the McNabs East mineralisation, along with RC drilling to test between the McNabs and McNabs East prospects.

The company also intends to follow up anomalous gold zones and felsic intrusion identified by wide-spaced air-core (AC) drilling and undertake further in-fill and extensional AC drilling along the more than 7km of known prospective strike.

McNabs East Insights

Managing director Michael Fowler said the DD campaign had provided Ordell with insights into the geometry and controls on the mineralisation at McNabs East.

“Importantly, these recent diamond holes have intersected some of the best high-grade gold seen at the project to date on the eastern side of McNabs East, with visible gold observed in core,” he added.

“This corridor of gently plunging high-grade mineralisation offers significant potential from an exploration perspective and will be a key focus of the next phase of drilling at Barimaia.”

Ordell plans to recommence RC drilling next week, and has scheduled DD for early September.
