Medical technology company Oneview Healthcare (ASX: ONE) has signed a distribution agreement with Samsung SDS America Inc (SDSA) to offer its Cloud Start digital bedside solution to patients in US-based hospitals.

Already deployed across four hospitals in New York at the height of the COVID-19 crisis, Cloud Start enables the secure, reliable and scalable delivery of applications and digital services at a patient’s bedside, including virtual rounding and visitation as well as virtual translation.

It operates exclusively on Samsung tablets and comprises the higher-level Cloud Enterprise tier offering added features such as personalised education delivery, electronic meal ordering and patient service requests to provide better control and in-patient quality of care.

Other features expected to attract wide adoption include auto-answer capabilities for inbound video calls, in-built security measures, statistics dashboards for oversight purposes and access to multiple communication applications including Cisco Jabber, Zoom and Skype.

Today’s agreement will enable Samsung SDSA (the enterprise IT solutions provider of Samsung) to distribute Oneview’s product to healthcare-focused enterprise resellers, commencing this month.

A good fit

Oneview chief executive officer James Fitter believes Cloud Start will be a good fit for the current market.

“Our move to the cloud accelerates speed to market and opens new possibilities for distribution, making it faster, easier and lower-cost for end-customers to benefit from the digital platform at the bedside… never [before] has this need been so apparent,” he said.

“[This] partnership provides a unique opportunity [for us] to address new virtual models of care and [allows] Samsung to enhance the value proposition for its reseller network.”

Mr Fitter said Cloud Start allows patients to view tailored educational content, exchange messages with their care team, monitor their own progress against assigned goals, stay connected with friends and family via video communication, and access premium entertainment.

It can also help clinical staff save time, avoid waste, increase efficiencies and improve quality of care by enabling real-time patient information, digitised nurse rounding processes, room readiness notifications and data and analytics for easy identification of areas needing improvement.
