Mobile gaming company iCandy Interactive (ASX: ICI) has updated the market with regards to its recently-released Masketeers mobile game, declaring it will launch on Samsung’s app store as part of the company’s US marketing push.

The game completed an early-access trial with Google Play in September and has quickly picked up thousands of early adopters in under two months.

According to iCandy, Masketeers: Idle has Fallen is an idle role-playing game (RPG) designed for the mobile gaming market with unique features such as active combat mechanics and an extensive library of characters and in-game items.

The game has taken around two years to design and build and is iCandy’s latest offering that could potentially become a cult classic hit given the early pre-order totals.

Prior to its global launch earlier this year, the game registered more than 1 million pre-orders as well as an “excellent retention rate and monetisation metrics”.

The game is now set to launch on Samsung’s app store after a big US marketing push last month.

Samsung’s digital marketplace seeks to rival existing platforms such as Apple’s App Store and Google Play and claims to have more than 400 million monthly active users.

According to iCandy, the launch will serve as an additional major distribution channel for its new mobile game, on top of existing distribution channels already established with Apple and Google.

More specifically, the gaming company is targeting the US market as its focus. In a statement to the market, the company confirmed that North America as a region was identified by its management as a “good fit” for Masketeers based on data collected from earlier trials conducted across the US and Canada.

Early numbers

In an operational update this time last month, iCandy reported that Masketeers had recorded significant revenue growth of $265,000 in its first 10 days and described early revenue figures to be “well above management expectations”.

Having hauled in around $2.2 million in revenue in 2019, iCandy’s management expects Masketeers to boost revenue figures “significantly”.

The company said it was “of the opinion that the strong revenue growth trend of Masketeers would contribute significantly to its overall revenue in the current financial year”.

In the first five days since launching, the game’s daily revenue run-rate was approximately $18,400 per day, while in the second five days, revenues had grown to around $34,600 per day – a growth rate of 88%.

According to statistics provided by Google Play, the game has been installed more than 100,000 times and currently sports a 4.5 out of 5-star rating with almost 30,000 reviews submitted.

Moving forward, the next phase of extending the game’s reach is to enlist the help of online influencers to push digital marketing.

The game has been featured as one of the new games to try in Apple Appstore and Google Play and is available in over 70 countries.
