Navarre Minerals (ASX: NML) has unearthed broad zones of gold mineralisation during drilling at the Telstra Hill prospect, which is only 1km from the recently acquired Mt Carlton processing plant.

Telstra Hill is part of the Mt Carlton gold operation Navarre officially acquired in the December quarter last year.

Navarre is undertaking drilling at satellite targets surrounding Mt Carlton to boost mine life and provide complementary mill feed to the 950,000 tonne per annum processing facility.

The company has now received assays from a 2,300m reverse circulation drilling campaign that totalled 36 holes completed last year at Telstra Hill.

Highlight intercepts were 13m at 4.4 grams per tonne gold from 48m, including 5m at 10.2g/t gold; 21m at 3g/t gold from surface, including 8m at 6.4g/t gold; and 14m at 3.6g/t gold from 40m, including 5m at 8.3g/t gold.

Navarre managing director Ian Holland said the company was “pleased” with the shallow broad intercepts from Telstra Hill, which is close to the processing plant.

“At Telstra Hill, we are starting to see the potential to expand our satellite open pit mining strategy for the Mt Carlton operation, which, to-date, includes three other gold deposits delineated at Mt Carlton United, Delta and BV7.”

Advancing Mt Carlton

Navarre will continue drilling at Telstra Hill during 2022 as part of its ongoing exploration program across the project.

“We can also see significant potential to expand our satellite mineral inventory, with regional drilling programs poised to commence in the coming months following conclusion of the wet season to progressively test key targets across the Mt Carlton mining lease, Crush Creek and regional prospects,” Mr Holland said.

Follow-up diamond and RC drilling will test several shallow infill and extensional targets as well as gather samples and data for metallurgical and geotechnical analysis.

Additionally, updated resources and reserves will be published for the Mt Carlton and Crush Creek deposits, with these expected to be revealed next month.

Navarre also anticipates results from latest drilling as well as historical data from Telstra Hill will be enough to calculate a maiden resource for the target.
