Historical drilling at Monger Gold’s Mt Monger North project returned numerous gold intercepts including 1m at 20.7g/t from 54m.

Junior explorer Monger Gold (ASX: MMG) has announced the completion of a geological mapping and sampling program at its Mt Monger South project in Western Australia’s eastern goldfields.

Gold assay results have been received for rock chip samples taken during the program with the most significant values being 89.79 grams per tonne of gold from a quartz vein in the eastern sector of the Three Emus prospect and 9.65g/t gold from an in-situ quartz vein in a small old workings shaft located 360 metres northwest of Three Emus.

A north-striking structure appears to intersect Three Emus and adjacent unnamed prospects with a series of old workings found along the trend.

Monger said the northeast sector of its tenements was found to contain favourable geology with the Silver Lake Resources’ (ASX: SLR) Daisy-Milano mine stratigraphy across the tenements that is adjacent to a favourable north-striking fault off the eastern tenement boundary.

Monger non-executive chairman Peretz Schapiro described the results as “exceptionally encouraging” and said they warrant further exploration at Mt Monger South, of which planning is “well underway”.

“The early-stage nature of the Mt Monger South project dovetails nicely with our more advanced prospects at Mt Monger North, providing us with a significant number of prospective targets, all at different stages of the development pipeline,” he said.

Geochemical sampling program to follow

The company is planning a major geochemical sampling program to be completed in the first half of 2022 with the mapping program having identified the most prospective areas.

Monger is a sponsor of the CSIRO Ultrafine+ program and as such, samples from the geochemical program with utilise the Ultrafine+ fraction soil technique.

RC drilling to start at Mt Monger North

Meanwhile, a reverse circulation drilling program is expected to begin at the Providence prospect at Mt Monger North by the end of January.

Previous drilling in October intercepted up to 1m at 190.06g/t gold and 8m at 31.84g/t gold.
