MGM Wireless (ASX: MWR) has announced that consumer electronics giant JB Hi-Fi will stock the technology company’s all-in-one children’s mobile phone, smartwatch and GPS tracker Spacetalk from November 1, 2018.

The deal will see the wearable Spacetalk device stocked in 195 JB Hi-Fi stores across Australia.

MGM Wireless CEO Mark Fortunatow says: “We are honoured to have JB Hi-Fi, Australia’s largest and one of the world’s leading consumer electronics retailers on board selling Spacetalk in Australian stores. From November 1, 2018, Australian parents will be able to walk into JB Hi-Fi Stores and see, feel and try Spacetalk before they buy our device with the confidence that they are purchasing from Australia’s leading consumer electronics retailer.”

“With JB Hi-Fi also being a Telstra re-seller, parents will be able to connect the Spacetalk device to the Telstra 3G network in one location. This is a significant milestone in our company’s development.”

“Since the launch of the company’s online store at www.allmytribe.com in October 2017, with an initial production run of 3000 units, the company has since manufactured a further 3000 units, and ordered a subsequent run of 15,000 units, which are in production now and were completed last week. A further production run of 5000 units is planned for November,” said Mr Fortunatow.

Mr Fortunatow says apart from pre-existing channels, JB Hi-Fi has exclusive rights to sell Spacetalk until February 28, 2019.

He says sales will be supported via a significant Christmas and back-to-school advertising campaign.

Award winning product

In early October, the Spacetalk device and allmytribe.com platform was crowned the 2018 overall winner for product design at the 2018 export awards ceremony, organised by Business SA and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in South Australia.

Thirteen judges based in Asia, Australia, Europe and North America judged the high quality entries representing three South Australian regions and 17 industry sectors that collectively export to more than 150 countries.

Spacetalk enables parents and children to be in constant contact without exposing their kids to the dangers of social media apps and unrestricted access to the Internet.

Parents can see their child’s location on their smartphone. Via the allmytribe app, parents are notified when their child leaves designated safe spaces, such as school or home.

If a child needs emergency help, a special SOS alert function can be customised to call parents and other guardians. Spacetalk has been independently verified by leading international cyber security experts as unhackable, and has the world’s best practice security and privacy features built in.

Other Spacetalk features include a stopwatch, torch and enhanced school mode. The enhanced school mode feature enables parents to specifically select which watch functions to disable during school hours, such as incoming and outgoing calls, messaging, step counter, location and stop watch. Disabling functions during school hours prevents classroom distractions.

Spacetalk is the first of its kind to be wholly developed in Australia and one of the first worldwide.
