Marquee Resources (ASX: MQR) has identified semi-continuous zones of up to 6.5% antimony during a review of historical data and reports from the high-grade Sa Pedra Bianca gold-silver project in Italy.

The mineralisation was observed over a strike length of 1.5 kilometres at the Sa Pala prospect and 400 metres at Pedra Bianca during preparations for a new research permit at the project.

Paragenetic studies indicate that the antimony occurred after the gold-silver mineralisation during a later deformation event and may represent an underexplored mineralisation style in the region.

Historical results

Historical channel sampling activities revealed highlights of 5m at 0.6% antimony from 2m, including 1m at 1.16% and 3m at 0.7% antimony from 8m, with best intercepts of 0.6m at 6.5% antimony from 137.55m and 5.55m at 0.3% antimony from 74.5m, including 3m at 0.5%.

Sa Pedra is in the establishment phase, with an Italian private company recently brought in to conduct business activities associated with the project.

Approval for the research permit application – which will replace an existing investigation permit – is expected to take up to six months and will allow drilling activities to be undertaken by Marquee in early 2025.

Enhanced potential

Marquee executive chair Charles Thomas said the antimony results would improve the potential of the project moving forward.

“While Sa Pedra is already known for its substantial gold resources, this recent identification suggests the project could also host critical metals,” he said.

“We are eager to continue our exploration efforts and look forward to providing the market with updates on the status of the research permit and our future exploration plans as we continue to advance this promising project.”

Project acquisition

Marquee acquired the Sa Pedra Bianca project via an option agreement with private vendors in May.

Historically, more than 50 kilometres of mapping have been completed over 22 vein sets, of which only seven have been drill tested and a handful subject to limited exploration.

Sa Pedra Bianca currently overprints a large component of the historical Osilo project mineral resource, reported as containing 1.65 million tonnes at 7.06 grams per tonne gold and 29.7g/t silver for a total of 376,140 ounces of gold and 1.58Moz silver.

Marquee said the project had “exceptional upside” with the potential to become a million-ounce-plus gold district.
