Marmota Hits Bonanza Gold Grades at Greenewood as Gawler Program Expands

Marmota (ASX: MEU) has reported another round of exceptional drilling results from its maiden program at the Greenewood gold discovery in South Australia’s Gawler Craton, confirming the emergence of a major new high-grade zone.
The latest assays include a standout intersection of 4 metres at 43 grams per tonne gold from 64m within 28m at 6.5g/t, the highest four-metre grade ever recorded at Greenewood.
Executive chair Dr Colin Rose said the results extend the mineralised zone to 900m in strike and establish Greenewood as one of the most promising new gold finds in the Gawler region.
Thick and Consistent High-Grade Intervals
Twelve of the 17 best thick intersections came from the latest batch of assays, which account for only one-third of the program’s total holes.
Alongside the bonanza 4m hit, highlights include 28m at 6.4g/t gold from 44m, 16m at 6.5g/t from 20m and 28m at 5.6g/t from 24m.
The mineralisation occurs close to surface, with downhole depths translating to just 17–56m from surface, suggesting strong open-pit potential.
Cross-sections show the high-grade lodes remain open in multiple directions, with the latest results demonstrating continuity between previously isolated sections of mineralisation.
New Confidence in Greenewood’s Scale
Greenewood lies 35km northwest of Marmota’s flagship Aurora Tank gold discovery and 30km northeast of the historical Challenger mine.
Both projects form part of the company’s growing Gawler Craton portfolio, which now includes five unmined gold deposits across the so-called “Arc of Six” deposits.
Dr Rose said the latest results confirm Greenewood’s transformation from an overlooked prospect into a major discovery.
“The results feature high grades close to surface with excellent continuity along strike—Greenewood is yielding some of the best gold results in the Gawler Craton since Challenger,” he said.
He added that the company’s geology team had “done a superb job” in validating the exploration model and opening a new phase of growth for Marmota’s Gawler gold project.
Building a New Development Pipeline
Marmota appointed experienced mining engineer Paul Richardson last month as Gawler Gold Project Manager to guide the company’s deposits toward production.
Dr Rose said the timing could not be better.
“Paul specialises in taking projects into production, and his appointment comes as the Gawler Gold Project moves beyond exploration into development planning,” he said.
The company plans follow-up drilling to extend the known mineralisation and close the open gaps between high-grade shoots, supported by metallurgical test work and resource definition studies across both Greenewood and Aurora Tank.
Gawler Gold Portfolio Strengthens
Greenewood’s emergence complements Marmota’s broader portfolio, which includes bonanza gold grades already reported at Aurora Tank and Campfire Bore earlier this year.
Dr Rose said these results collectively reinforce the company’s regional growth strategy.
“Our Gawler gold project is going from strength to strength, featuring bonanza grades across multiple deposits that together create economies of scope and scale,” he said.
Marmota said it would provide further updates as Mr Richardson advances development plans for Gawler Gold, describing Greenewood’s results as the foundation for a “new paradigm for growth.”
