Marmota Appoints Experienced Executive to Lead Gawler Gold Project

Marmota (ASX: MEU) has appointed seasoned mining and processing executive Paul Richardson as project manager for its Gawler Gold project in South Australia.
Mr Richardson’s primary focus will be advancing the company’s Aurora Tank discovery and adjacent deposits toward production.
Executive chair Dr Colin Rose said the appointment strengthens Marmota’s ability to unlock value from its growing portfolio of gold assets.
Veteran Leader Brings Production Expertise
Mr Richardson is a mineral processing engineer with more than 36 years of experience across open pit and underground operations.
His background includes senior roles at Mount Gibson Gold, Pacmin Mining’s Carosue Dam, and St Barbara Mines, where he managed teams of up to 450 staff in Superintendent, Resident Manager, General Manager and Project Director roles.
He has specialised in moving projects from study phases into production, with direct responsibility for feasibility work and operational ramp-up.
“Paul has been engaged with the express purpose of taking our Gawler Gold project to production—his skills and experience will be invaluable as we seek to unlock their full value,” Dr Rose said, adding that Mr Richardson’s track record is well aligned with Marmota’s ambitions.
The Gawler project’s potential continues to expand with each drilling campaign, and the company is confident that Richardson’s leadership will help accelerate the project’s transition from exploration to development.
Aurora Tank Anchors Development Plans
Aurora Tank remains Marmota’s flagship asset, featuring shallow high-grade intersections, strong metallurgical recoveries, and potential for low-cost heap leach production.
The deposit lies at the centre of an arc of nearby discoveries, providing scope for a multi-deposit development strategy.
Marmota believes Aurora Tank’s low capital intensity offers a pathway to early cash flow while delivering economies of scale with surrounding deposits.
The company’s maiden drilling at its Greenewood prospect recently returned standout results including 24 metres at 12 grams per tonne gold from 20m depth, and Marmota expects follow-up assays from 52 additional holes within weeks, potentially extending the mineralised footprint further.
Other prospects such as Campfire Bore and Golf Bore have already yielded bonanza grades, underlining the regional potential of the Gawler project.
