With a project located in a prime neighbourhood, Locksley Resources (ASX: LKY) is looking to target the US government’s increasing demand for home-grown critical minerals and rare earth elements (REE).

Locksley is advancing its Mojave project located approximately 1.4 kilometres from the Mountain Pass project, the only producing rare earth mine in the US.

The company’s confidence has also been boosted by the recent federal endorsement of Dateline Resources’ (ASX: DTR) nearby Colosseum project, highlighting the strategic value of the district.

Strategic positioning

Locksley has told shareholders it believes that Mojave shares similar strategic positioning and potential to Colosseum and it plans to leverage the precedent set by Dateline to pursue regulatory alignment and market support.

The company also believes the US government’s recent edicts, including President Donald Trump’s March 2025 US executive order to increase mineral production, leave it well placed to receive support for its Mojave development plans.

Locksley has already sought engagement with US federal authorities as it looks to qualify under the standing executive order.

Drilling plans

At the same time, Locksley is progressing plans to expand Mojave’s known antimony and rare earths mineralisation and has formally made a submission to the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for the receipt of a drilling permit at the site.

The BLM has confirmed it will undertake any initial environmental assessment requirements.

These assessments could have held up the approval process for anywhere up to 12 months.

Surface-subsurface exploration

The company is planning to undertake further surface and subsurface exploration, targeting known high-grade antimony and REE zones.

Exploration through surface mapping has so far identified an 860m mineralised horizon and field work has returned multiple samples exceeding 17% antimony, confirming a high-grade mineralised system.

Mojave also hosts significant REE potential, with rock chip assays at the El Campo prospect including returns of up to 12.1% total rare earth oxide and 3.19% high-value neodymium-praseodymium.
