Legacy Minerals will test the new targets “imminently”.

Junior explorer Legacy Minerals (ASX: LGM) has hit new high-grade gold intercepts and anomalous geochemistry in maiden drilling at the Harden gold mine prospect ahead of another program next month.

Assays for the remaining reverse circulation holes at the prospect returned “highly encouraging” results and pave the way for the priority testing of down-plunge targets.

Next month’s diamond drilling campaign will comprise five holes for a total 1,200m to test the continuity of the Harden orebody along strike and under historical workings.

It will provide structural information relating to the character of mineralisation and alteration intercepted in maiden drilling.

Assay results

Significant results from maiden drilling were 6m at 2 grams per tonne gold from 128m, including 1m at 7.55g/t from 128m; 1m at 0.7g/t gold from 113m; 6m at 0.36g/t gold from 118m; 1m at 1.16g/t gold from 51m; and 1m at 0.64g/t gold from 99m.

They combine with previously-reported assays of 2m at 19.09g/t gold, including 1m at 32.80g/t from 111m and 1m at 6.24g/t from 134m; 3m at 4.62g/t gold from 79m, within 8m at 2.45g/t from 77m; and 9m at 0.56g/t gold from 120m; and 4m at 0.51g/t gold from 133m.

Re-assayed results

Legacy commissioned an independent re-split and re-assay of original samples following the high gold grades and visible gold observed during drilling.

The results confirmed the grades and returned a better overall assay of 6m at 3.6g/t gold from 79m, including a higher-grade interval of 3m at 5.12g/t from 80m.

The company believes a “nugget effect” to be responsible for the variability of results and is currently having the original higher grade drill intervals re-split and re-assayed.

The work includes processing by screen fire assay of some samples to assess the significance of the nugget effect.

Harden potential

Managing director Christopher Byrne said the maiden results confirmed the potential of the Harden prospect.

“These results confirm it to be an exciting and rapidly-developing, high-grade gold discovery with significant potential,” he said.

“The grades we have seen to date across a strike of 400m demonstrate the size potential of the system [and] we are keenly progressing further exploration such as diamond drilling which will be a very exciting next step.”
