Kin Mining (ASX: KIN) will step up exploration activity across a number of satellite targets outside of its 1.23 million ounce Cardinia gold project near Leonora in Western Australia.

The company owns six separate projects to the east and west of Cardinia.

Over the past 12 months, Kin has been undertaking a range of exploration activities across the regional assets, with work including ground-based geophysical surveys, auger soil geochemical sampling and first pass aircore drilling.

In the upcoming exploration program, Kin will assess mineralisation style and gold grade.

The company plans to garner as much information as possible to determine if a project has the potential to be a viable standalone development or provide a satellite feed to the future Cardinia operation.

When assessing this, Kin will evaluate distance from Cardinia, potential alternative treatment options, project size and gold grade.

Mount Flora and Iron King

Reverse circulation drilling has been planned for the Mount Flora project, which is about 20km east of Cardinia.

Aircore drilling at this target uncovered a highlight intercept of 22m at 8.96 grams per tonne gold, which Kin managing director Andrew Munckton described as “exceptional”.

RC drilling will follow up the high-grade intersection and others along strike and at depth to determine the extent of the vein system.

The program is scheduled to begin next month.

Kin will also complete more aircore drilling at the project.

Over at Iron King, which is 45km from Leonora in the region, Kin will use RC drilling to follow up on a 11,425m aircore program that was finished late last year.

This program yielded strong results from the Axford prospect along strike from historic workings and previous drilling.

The project hosts the Iron King pit which produced 20,000t at 9g/t gold for 5,600oz.

Kin plans to begin drilling Iron King next quarter.

Other satellite projects

The company will also carry out an auger and soil geochemical program across its Randwick tenement group which comprises 26sq km.

Kin has identified several targets within the tenements, which are 48km northeast of Leonora.

About 50km east of Leonora is Kin’s Murrin project. The company will undertake an auger soil sampling program at this project as well.

Exploration is scheduled for the September quarter.

As well as gold, Kin will assess the nickel sulphide potential at the Mt Fouracre project 60km northwest of Leonora.
