First-pass reverse circulation drilling by Kin Mining (ASX: KIN) at its Iron King gold prospect has, the company says, demonstrated the potential for extended mineralisation across multiple greenfield targets.

Iron King lies within Kin’s tenement package located 45km northwest of Leonora in Western Australia.

The reverse circulation drilling program is designed to test below anomalous results from a preceding aircore program.

The latest results from Iron King included a hole with three separate mineralised zones: 8m at 1.79 grams per tonne gold (from 13m down hole), 2m at 3.3g/t (from 37m) and 1m at 2.37g/t (from 75m).

Other holes returned 2m at 2.74g/t and 2m at 2.86g/t.

Presence of narrow, high-grade ore ‘encouraging’

At the nearby Axford target, drilling intersected 1m at 2.23g/t, 2m at 1.88g/t, and 1m at 1.46g/t.

Axford also produced a three-zone gold result from another hole: 1m at 1.25g/t (from 19m), 1m at 6.3g/t (from 54m) and 1m at 1.1g/t (from 65m).

The company said the results provide further evidence of gold mineralisation associated with quartz veining and sulphides.

Significantly, another hole at Iron King returned 21m at 0.57g/t from 55m to end-of-hole.

“The presence of narrow, high-grade ore within wider zones of low-grade mineralisation is encouraging,” the statement added.

Mineralisation ‘similar’ to King of the Hill mine

Latest results support the evidence gained from soil sampling, aircore drilling and historical drilling, that there are two parallel zones of mineralisation centred on the recently drilled Axford prospect as well as at Iron King which saw shallow open pit mining in the 1980s.

Managing director Andrew Munckton says the limited RC drilling at Iron King has confirmed primary gold mineralisation below the previous aircore targets.

“We have now confirmed the presence of primary gold mineralisation over substantial widths,” he added.

Iron King is located near the 4.1 million-ounce King of the Hills gold mine owned by Red 5 (ASX: RED).

“The similarity of the Iron King mineralisation to the nearby King of the Hill-style of deposit is notable and, therefore, the prospect requires further analysis and follow-up drilling,” Mr Munckton said.

Kin’s focus is its 100% owned Cardinia gold project located in the north-eastern goldfields region of Western Australia.

Cardinia has a 1.23Moz gold mineral resource defined in both oxide and deeper primary mineralisation.
