Junior explorer Kalamazoo Resources (ASX: KZR) has posted consistent progress across its Victorian gold assets during the three-month period to end 31 December.

Ultrafine+ multi-element soil geochemistry results from a late-2020 sampling program at the highly-prospective Tarnagulla project revealed a 1.4-kilometre long linear anomaly grading more than 100 parts per billion gold and coincident with a trend of historical high-grade hard rock mine workings.

The trend includes the historic Poverty Reef mine, 1km along strike to the south, with past production of 360,000 ounces at 92 grams per tonne gold.

During the quarter, Kalamazoo received final regulatory approvals to conduct an 800-metre drilling program at Tarnagulla to test coincident structural and soil geochemistry targets.

Drilling is scheduled for completion by mid-year, dependent on rig availability.

Castlemaine sampling

At the Castlemaine gold project in central Victoria’s highly-endowed Bendigo Zone, a regional soil sampling program completed in late-2021 discovered an 800m-long gold and arsenic-in-soil anomaly within the hanging wall of the regional-scale Taradale Fault.

The anomaly is along strike of historic mine workings in the adjacent Queens joint venture project owned by Kalamazoo and Novo Resources Corporation and will be the focus of further field investigations.

Myrtle geochemistry program

During the period, Kalamazoo commenced a detailed Ultrafine+ multi-element soil geochemistry program at the Myrtle gold project, located near the high-grade Fosterville gold mine within the hanging wall of the Axe Creek Fault.

Myrtle is considered prospective for Fosterville-style epizonal orogenic gold as well as intrusion related gold-molybdenum deposits.

Approximately 780 samples were collected from key parts of the project and will be sent to Perth-based LabWest for analysis.

South Muckelford reef structures

Results from Kalamazoo’s 2021 drilling program have confirmed the existence of several shallow epizonal gold-antimony-arsenic reef structures in the eastern section of the South Muckleford project in Victoria.

Assays and visual inspections have shown rock textures and widespread gold-antimony-arsenic mineralisation typical of a shallow epizonal style of mineralisation with peak 1m reverse circulation composite sample assays up to 1.4g/t gold, 0.25% antimony (including visible stibnite) and 0.5% arsenic.

Diamond drilling

As a follow-up to the 29-hole reverse circulation program completed in early 2021, a small diamond drilling program was completed at South Muckleford’s Fentiman’s Reef and Smith’s Reef North prospects in September.

Four holes were designed to test interpreted structural targets within their respective reef structures.

Target zones were reached with significant quartz vein and fault structures intersected, however they returned only low levels of gold in assays.

Kalamazoo said drilling will continue to focus on 3D structural geology modelling, geochemical vectoring investigations and targeting exercises with the aim of identifying extensional and deeper targets along defined reef structures.
