Investigator Resources ASX IVR Apollo Ares Diomedes prospects silver zinc lead drilling South Australia

Investigator managing director Andrew McIlwain says 2022 is continuing to be an “exciting and successful exploration year” for the company.

South Australian primary silver play Investigator Resources (ASX: IVR) says its regional drilling program at the Paris project has returned “substantial” silver, lead and zinc.

Drilling was carried out at its Apollo, Ares and Diomedes prospects as part of the company’s aim of firming up the regional potential beyond the main Paris deposit.

Ares returned 39m at 1.26% zinc from 21m, including 12m at 2.66% zinc; 6m at 24 grams per tonne silver; 9m at 0.33% lead; and 15m at 0.26% zinc.

Significant intersections at Diomedes included Hole 823, which assayed 36m at 0.62% lead (from 60m); 21m at 15g/t silver (from 99m); and 35m at 0.41% zinc (from 106m), including 2m at 2.18% zinc and 4m at 0.3g/t gold.

‘Exciting and successful’ exploration year

Assays from the diamond twin hole at Apollo are yet to be received.

Investigator completed its 7,634m regional drilling program in April, that program focusing on six prospects across the Peterlumbo tenement, host of the main Paris deposit.

Managing director Andrew McIlwain said 2022 is continuing to be “an exciting and successful exploration year”.

Last month Investigator reported that, 80 km east of its flagship Paris deposit, the Uno Morgan deposit was emerging as another high-grade South Australia silver asset.

That new program, said Investigator at the time, had delivered “high-grade” silver and “impressive” zinc results.

Twenty-four of the 27 holes drilled at Uno Morgan across seven targets returned reportable intersections, including one at the Twelve Mile Hill prospect assaying 12m at 240g/t silver, including 6m at 383g/t silver.

Hopes for more hits at all three prospects

Of this latest set of results, Mr McIlwain said follow-up drilling will begin at all three prospects next month, after completing assessment of all geochemical and structural data.

“Importantly, this drilling — all within 7km of our Paris project — provides substantial geological and geochemical data that significantly improves our geological understanding of the region and enables us to refine our targeting models,” he said.

While the other at Apollo have not replicated the “spectacular” results from Hole 826 (7m at 700g/t silver, including 4m at 1,170g/t silver) the company reports that there continue to be silver intersections adjacent to, and along, trend.

“The Ares prospect continues to deliver significant mineralisation, displaying similarities to the Paris deposit,” Mr McIlwain said.

Diomedes had not been drilled since 2014 although previous work had identified a fault breccia with ”significant” lead-zinc-copper-gold and silver mineralisation.
