Hydralyte North America reaches sales milestone on Amazon USA, Canadian market penetration surges
As part of its ongoing US expansion, The Hydration Pharmaceuticals Company (ASX: HPC), which trades as Hydralyte North America, has achieved a major sales milestone on Amazon USA, while revenue growth in Canada has surged in recent weeks.
Hydralyte North America has developed and sells a range of Hydralyte products, which it describes as “healthy hydration solutions” and are available in liquid, tablet and powder form.
The company revealed today annual sales through the US Amazon site have reached US$3 million over the past 12 months, which is 92% higher than the previous corresponding period.
Surging year-end sales in Canada have also boosted the company’s bottom line, with a further US$1.3 million in revenue generated from Amazon Canada.
“The formal recognition of US$3 million in annual sales through Amazon USA plus another $1.3 million from Amazon Canada was a pleasing milestone for the company,” Hydralyte North America chief executive officer Oliver Baker said.
“The result demonstrates Hydralyte North America has achieved strong traction on one of the world’s leading e-commerce platforms.”
Surging growth in Canada
Mr Baker noted the company was also experiencing rising Hydralyte product sales via Canadian pharmacies.
About 75% of the company’s Canadian revenue comes from bricks and mortar pharmacy stores.
Driving the Canadian growth is a strong distribution footprint through the nation’s largest chemist chain Shoppers Drug Mart.
Shoppers Drug Mart has more than 1,200 stores throughout Canada. Hydralyte sales through Walmart Canada also contributed to the growth.
Mr Baker said recent product sales through both chains have surpassed weekly growth rates of more than 100% in some weeks.
Underpinning the higher sales is a severe cold/flu season in Canada.
Co-branded product releases
At the start of December, Hydralyte North America debuted a co-branded rehydration product with renowned actress and social media influence Shay Mitchell.
Ms Mitchell collaborated on the product’s development.
As part of the launch, Ms Mitchell hosted an immersive hydration event with numerous top US influencers.
Hydralyte North America estimates the event had an audience of about 85 million people.
Ms Mitchell’s reach alone comprises 34 million Instagram followers, 3 million on Twitter, 4 million YouTube subscribers and 7 million TikTok followers.
“We look forward to providing more updates through the course of 2023 as Hydralyte North America continues to diligently pursue its long-term growth objectives while cautiously allocating all capital expenses,” Mr Baker said.
