Flynn Gold Targets Continuity of High-Grade Mineralisation in Maiden Drilling at Grenadier Discovery

Flynn Gold (ASX: FG1) has commenced a diamond drilling campaign at the Grenadier greenfields discovery within its wholly owned Golden Ridge project in north-east Tasmania.
The initial five-hole campaign for a total of 600 metres will test the down-dip continuity of high-grade assays returned from recent surface trench sampling that saw highlights of 1.3m at 6.6 grams per tonne gold including 0.4m at 17.7g/t and 2.3m at 4.2g/t gold including 0.4m at 11.0g/t.
To date, 11 trenches have exposed significant gold mineralisation hosted in northeast-trending quartz-sulphide veins ranging in true thickness from 350 millimetres to 600mm and mapped over a strike length of at least 300m.
Down-Dip Extension
The first hole of Flynn’s campaign is testing the down-dip extension of Trench 9 bulk sampling area to a depth of 110m, where conventional cyanide leach testing of six samples returned an average grade of 10.5g/t gold with 95% recovery.
The remainder of the program will investigate new targets from a Grenadier trenching program designed to test the south-eastern portion of a significant gold-in-soil anomaly covering approximately 1 sq km of the south-western margin of the Golden Ridge Granodiorite.
Trenching to date has tested a small part of this anomaly and identified high-grade mineralisation in quartz-sulphide veining.
Unlocking Potential
Flynn chief executive officer Neil Marston said the company was keen to unlock the full potential of Grenadier’s largely untested gold system.
“Trenching over gold-in-soil anomalies has proven to be an extremely effective and efficient discovery tool at Golden Ridge and our ongoing campaign is designed to unlock further potential across this system and generate additional drill targets,” he said.
Mr Marston said Flynn was excavating a new 200m trench south-east of Trenches 9 and 10 to target an area defined by the gold-in-soil anomaly and high-grade float samples collected during recent fieldwork.
“The trench is targeting potential quartz sulphide veins sub-parallel to those currently being drill tested and may provide us with additional drill targets for follow-up exploration,” he said.
Trafalgar Drilling
Flynn is midway through an infill and extensional drilling campaign at Golden Ridge’s advanced Trafalgar prospect to increase geological confidence in the current exploration target and support future mineral resource estimation.
Four holes have been completed to date for 879m targeting extensions of high-grade intercepts returned in earlier campaigns such as 2.7m at 4.1g/t gold including 0.35m at 26.6g/t, 4.8m at 4g/t gold including 0.4m at 17.9g/t and 24g/t and 3.05m at 4.9g/t gold including 0.35m at 40g/t.
Assays for the four holes are pending.
