Far East geologists have identified up to 131g/t gold and 1,508g/t across the Aloe Eumpeuk prospect.

Far East Gold (ASX: FEG) has commenced scout drilling at the highly-prospective Aloe Eumpeuk prospect within its Woyla project in Indonesia where recent sampling of loose vein material from artisanal workings identified visible gold.

Drilling will comprise an initial six holes for 650m to test two parallel veins over a strike length of 300m.

Detailed mapping by Far East’s geologists returned bonanza peak results of 131 grams per tonne gold and 1,508g/t silver associated with coarse visible gold and electrum in quartz veins containing sulphide-rich ginguro bands.

Historical trench sample assays as reported by previous owner Barrick Gold include 16m at 2.93g/t gold and 2g/t silver including 9m at 5.16g/t gold and 2.41g/t silver including 1m at 28.3g/t gold and 9.9g/t silver.

Two quartz veins

Recent exploration by Far East has indicated the Aloe Eumpeuk prospect area to host at least two quartz veins.

Samples at surface show ginguro textures and mineralogy consistent with vein formation at a high level within an epithermal system.

Far East has said previous geologists noted how the quartz-adularia colloform texture and crustiform banding seen at Aloe Eumpeuk is similar to textures associated with high-grade vein sections within the Gosowong gold district in North Maluku.

The structural setting of the Aloe Eumpeuk veins are analogous to that of the Kencana gold deposit within the Gosowong district where high-grade quartz veins formed within a dilational jog.

Exploration expansion

Far East is continuing its expansion of exploration at the Woyla project’s four defined epithermal prospect areas.

Recent surface mapping and sampling resulted in the discovery of two new quartz veins within the area, one of which is located approximately 200m northwest of the Rek Rinti target.

The vein is characterised by crystalline and massive quartz with minor chalcedonic bands.

It is interpreted to be part of the Rek Rinti system where bonanza-grade gold and silver was intersected in December during maiden drilling.
