Far East Gold describes Woyla as one of the most prospective undrilled copper-gold projects in South East Asia.

As its maiden drilling program draws to a close at the Woyla project in Indonesia, Far East Gold (ASX: FEG) has revealed visible gold and silver bearing minerals had been observed in drill core.

Far East Gold is the first company to gain permission to drill the project, which covers 24,260-hectares of land in the Aceh Province.

The company describes Woyla as one of the most prospective undrilled copper-gold projects in South East Asia, and is the first to be granted permission to undertake drilling, with previous explorers including Newcrest Mining (ASX: NCM) and Barrick Gold.

An 18-hole for 2,560m drilling program kicked-off in late September and focused on the Anak Perak prospect.

Drilling targeting the Anak Perak Main Zone vein system along 900m of strike and had the goal of demonstrating the area’s resource potential.

The program has confirmed the presence of the Anak Perak Main Vein Zone over 700m of strike and to a vertical depth of 150m.

Visible minerals at Rek Rinti

Over at the Rek Rinti prospect, the first three holes have been completed of a planned five-hole for 1,120m phase one diamond program.

To-date, visual results combined with portable handheld x-ray analyser (pXRF) readings indicate the presence of discrete gold and silver bearing minerals in drill core of the current fourth hole.

Far East Gold says this is consistent with surface samples from the Rek Rinti prospect which assayed up to 38 grams per tonnes gold and 581g/t silver.

Additional holes at Anak Perak

With the Rek Rinti drilling nearing completion, Far East Gold noted it would undertake an additional two holes at Anak Perak.

These holes will total about 300m and test the southern extent of the vein system to target areas where previous rock chip samples returned up to 119g/t gold, 118g/t silver, 1.8% copper, 38% lead and 2.7% zinc.

Both drilling programs at Anak Perak and Rek Rinti are expected to wind up before the end of the year.

Woyla comprises four main epithermal vein systems: Anak Perak, Rek Rinti, Aloe Eumpeuk and Aloe Rek.
