Far East Gold expands Idenburg mineralisation with initial drilling at Bermol prospect

Far East Gold (ASX: FEG) has reported strong gold intersections from early drilling at the Bermol prospect within its Idenburg project in Papua, Indonesia.
The initial Phase 1 results confirm extensions to mineralisation beyond the current resource and validate historic exploration data.
The company said the results reinforce confidence in Idenburg’s potential and mark the first step in a broader campaign across multiple targets.
Encouraging Early Results
Far East has so far drilled 10 holes at Bermol for 1,169.6 metres across a 650m strike length, and has received assays from four.
Each hole returned gold mineralisation, including highlight intervals of 4.7m at 2.26 grams per tonne from 92.4m, 5.2m at 1.67g/t from 38m, and 2m at 3.17g/t from 46.9m.
These intercepts support the presence of gold-bearing structures identified in earlier work by PT Iriana Mutiara Idenburg and also highlight new zones not currently included in the resource base.
Far East Gold noted that the results provide the scope for it to expand the Bermol mineralised system and support the company’s belief that Idenburg can host a district-scale gold project.
Resource Growth Potential
Bermol currently contributes 228,000 ounces at 4.8g/t within Idenburg’s 540,000oz inferred resource at 4.1g/t gold.
An independent assessment in 2024 indicated an exploration target of up to 7.2Moz at 6.1g/t, with Bermol itself estimated at up to 1.8 million ounces.
The company is using the current drill program to focus on expanding this resource and testing prospective shear zones and veins.
Far East is also conducting a 320-line kilometre drone magnetic and Lidar survey to define structural features across a 1,200-hectare corridor linking Bermol and North Bermol.
This data will inform upcoming drilling and provide further clarity on the scale of mineralisation within the Idenburg corridor.
Pipeline of Prospects
Chief executive officer Shane Menere said the results underscored Bermol’s potential and confirmed the company’s strategy.
“We are very encouraged by the first drill results from the Bermol prospect, which confirm a wide mineralised shear and fault zone with strong geological features consistent with previous exploration work and Exploration Target,” he said.
Mr Menere added that drilling has now shifted to North Bermol to test targets never previously drilled, while maiden programs at Sua and Kwaplu are also in preparation.
“Each of these areas has the potential to deliver strong high-grade results and build momentum as we unlock the broader gold potential of this project.”
