Esports media and software company Esports Mogul (ASX: ESH) is preparing to cut the ribbon on its inaugural online tournament Silver Slam, in conjunction with its strategic partner Razer, a prominent gaming accessories manufacturer.

The multifaceted tournament will run from 5 February to 3 March 2019 and include 80 daily competitions, otherwise known as “Quick Cups” across all 16 gaming titles.

Coverage of the event is expected to be extensive and to be centred around Esports Mogul’s very own news portal Mogul News, an entity set up after it acquired GameGeek in October last year.

Razer will be a key partner in hosting Silver Slam by promoting the tournament to its 50-million strong database and offering a range of incentives for participants. One of the headline attractions is a total prize pool of A$275,000.

The eSports gaming extravaganza will also include partner organised tournaments with players able to earn leaderboard points including other incentives such as Razer Silver, an online rewards system that can later be redeemed for prizes in association with co-host Razer.

The duo has said that prize winners will be able to obtain a “wide range of gaming gear and accessories, games and even gift cards.”

The Silver Slam leaderboard will run throughout the event where users will gain points for playing in tournaments and voting on Esports Elite, a “professional match voting” system operated by Esports Mogul.

To prepare for the launch of Silver Slam, Esports Mogul has actively expanded its game title catalogue made available to players via its proprietary platform Mogul.gg.

In recent weeks, the eSports company has been preparing for Silver Slam by adding a variety of games to its platform such as Fortnite, Overwatch, Rainbow Six Siege, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and NBA 2K19, as well as covering all its bases by including games from mobile, console and PC in a bid to attract gamers from all backgrounds.

As part of a synchronised and aggressive marketing push, Esports Mogul is also harnessing its business partners to drive user acquisition and attract as many gamers as possible.

Prominent partners across South East Asia have been selected to host tournaments in conjunction with Silver Slam including The Plays, Rumble Royale, Ragequit, NEX STUDIO, Channel 8 and Lakoi.

“These partners all have large target audiences within South East Asia and will drive these users to Mogul in order to register and join their tournaments,” according to Esports Mogul.

“The company is excited to kick-off Silver Slam in early February with the plethora of new game titles and platforms. This is a large leap of Mogul as we can prove we have the capabilities to run bracketing and results for any game title,” said Gernot Abl, managing director of Esports Mogul.
