Gold miner, Empire Resources (ASX: ERL) has commenced trucking gold ore to a second WA processing mill from its new Penny’s Find gold mine just northeast of Kalgoorlie.

The latest arrangement sees ore haulage from the mine to the Lakewood toll milling facility located on the southern outskirts of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, WA.

This development is in addition to ore currently being trucked from the mine to Maximus Resources’ Burbanks toll milling facility at Coolgardie.

The Lakewood mill has available capacity to treat up to 15,000 tonnes of Penny’s Find ore during the month of September 2017. Hampton Transport Services is currently employing quad road trains around the clock to transport ore to the Lakewood facility.

The company aims to have its first gold pour in the near future.

Empire Resources Managing Director, Mr David Sargeant:

“The opportunity to simultaneously access two toll treatment mills was quickly assessed and found to be viable given our ore production schedule.  To date, more than 20,000 tonnes of ore have been produced from the Penny’s Find open pit.

With open pit mining now accessing the higher grade part of the orebody and ore being simultaneously processed through two mills, this provides an excellent window of opportunity for Empire to optimise its maiden gold production, given the current high gold price of more than AUD$1,600/oz.”
