Elevate Uranium starts new year drilling at Koppies project
Continuity between Elevate’s four Koppies targets reinforce the likelihood the mineralised area measures up to 20km long and 4km wide.
Elevate Uranium (ASX: EL8) has kicked off its new year drilling program at various zones within the Koppies project in Namibia.
Drilling commenced after the Christmas break using two rigs to determine the extent of mineralisation between the Koppies 2 target and the Koppies tenement boundary to the south.
The company is also testing areas where analysis of prior drill data has identified potential for mineralisation extensions.
Target connections
Latest results have confirmed that Koppies 2 connects with the Koppies 4 target, while mineralisation identified between Koppies 1 and Koppies 2 indicates these two are also connected.
The continuity between all four areas reinforces the likelihood the Koppies mineralised area has an aggregate length of 20 kilometres and a width of up to 4km.
Drill holes completed sit outside of the Koppies 1 and Koppies 2 maiden mineral resource estimate of 20.3 million pounds uranium oxide equivalent.
In November, Elevate confirmed the discovery of the Koppies 4 target, which stretches 6.6km to the south of Koppies 2.
It is believed to be a continuation of mineralisation at the Koppies 3 target identified in September, which is 10km zone of mineralisation to the northeast of Koppies 2.
Positive results
Managing director Murray Hill said drilling continued to unearth positive results for the company.
“These latest drill results identify mineralisation south of Koppies 2, indicating that it connects with Koppies 4 and further suggesting that the mineralisation extends the full north-south extent of the Koppies tenement,” he said.
“We have now demonstrated that mineralisation is likely to be continuous between all four zones of the Koppies project… we expect that our drilling programs to be undertaken this year will further define and consolidate the extent of the greater Koppies area.”
Project location
Koppies is a small portion of the area controlled by Elevate in the prolific Namib area within the Southern Erongo region of central-western Namibia.
It is located near to Deep Yellow’s (ASX: DYL) Tumas-1 East uranium deposit and highlights considerable opportunities for Elevate to eventually increase its mineralisation across the greater Namib area.
