Elevate Uranium (ASX: EL8) has delineated two new and significant zones of uranium mineralisation at the Hirabeb project in Namibia.

The project lies within Elevate’s Namib Area tenements and the new mineralised zones comprise Hirabeb I and Hirabeb II.

These zone were identified from wide-spaced holes on drill lines 500m apart.

Mineralisation at Hirabeb I extends over 4 kilometres along strike and is up to 800 metres wide, with uranium results exceeding 100 parts per million uranium oxide equivalent.

At Hirabeb II, anomalous uranium (grading more than 50ppm) was found to be continuous over 9km of the palaeochannel and remains open in several directions.

Grades in excess of 100ppm have so far been intersected in four areas within Hirabeb II and the mineralisation is believed to be open along strike to the northeast and southwest.

Continuity of mineralisation

Managing director Murray Hill said further drilling had been planned to establish continuity of mineralisation between the two zones.

“These results are very encouraging and follow-up drill programs will be conducted later this year to reduce the line spacing and confirm the extent of mineralised areas greater than 100ppm uranium oxide equivalent, particularly at Hirabeb II,” he said.

Drilling at the Hirabeb project to date totals 686 holes for 8,316m at an average hole depth of 12.2m.

Largest tenement

Spread over 730 square kilometres, Hirabeb is the largest of Elevate’s strategically-located tenements in the Namib desert region of Namibia.

It is 15 times the size of the company’s first regional discovery at Koppies.

A maiden exploration program at Hirabeb, which included horizontal loop electromagnetics (HLEM) and drilling, identified an extensive palaeochannel system with the major palaeochannel which is reported to be longer than the width of the English Channel.

Uranium mineralisation has been intersected over a distance of 30km within the palaeochannel.

Mr Hill said the scale of the palaeochannel at Hirabeb is evident by the comparison with the English Channel.

Tier one jurisdiction

Namibia is known to be a tier one uranium jurisdiction with an established mining industry operating for more than 45 years.

The country ranks as the fourth largest uranium producer with the fifth largest uranium resources worldwide.

The Namib area hosts more than 270 million pounds of defined uranium resources and Elevate’s tenements are located upstream of known deposits in the region.

Since mid-2019, the Koppies, Hirabeb and Namib IV projects have been discovered in the Namib Area.

Mr Hill said exploration and resource drilling across the area is in progress, with the drill rig in operation for the remainder of the year.
