Results from aircore drilling at Target 3 within Laverton South have revealed two main anomalism zones.

E79 Gold Mines (ASX: E79) has identified multiple zones of “significant gold anomalism” following a major aircore drilling program across its Laverton South project in Western Australia.

The program comprised 17,000m of drilling across the Target 3 and Target 4 areas.

“The aircore program at Target 3 was to infill the wide spaced drill lines from the previous program and extend the anomaly to the south, where it remains open,” E79 chief executive officer Ned Summerhayes said.

The company has now received assays from 80 holes drilled at Target 3, with results from a further 96 holes pending. A total of 14,350m was drilled over the target.

Assays have revealed two main anomalism zones at Target 3, within parallel 1,600m zones.

Notable intercepts received so far comprise 18m at 0.15 grams per tonne from 52m, which was completed at the east end of the drill line.

Other holes hit 20m at 0.16g/t gold from 84m and ended in mineralisation; and 8m at 0.28g/t gold from 100m and also finished in mineralisation.

The intercepts also contain pathfinder elements: arsenic, copper, zinc, lead and tungsten.

‘Exciting development’

Mr Summerhayes said the results also show a central core target, which he noted was an “exciting development”, because it shows a thick gold zone which remains open at depth.

The central core target is part of a 600m long and 120m wide zone.

“The gold pathfinder elements, evidence of fluid flow and location close to a granite/sediment/mafic contact at the central core zone has analogies to large deposits in the region such as Victory (St Ives) and Sunrise Dam (AngloGold Ashanti, ASX: AGG), both of which were discovered under thick transported cover with rotary airblast/aircore drilling giving the first clues to the mineralisation,” he explained.

“We look forward to testing this target at depth with the upcoming reverse circulation drilling program.”

The deeper follow-up drilling will be carried out at both zones identified at Target 3 later this year.

Laverton South project

Assays are also pending from drilling at Target 4 where 95 holes were completed for 3,905m.

Both Target 3 and Target 4 are located on the Pinjin tenements within the wider Laverton South project.

Laverton South covers the southern portion of the Laverton Tectonic Zone and is 130km east-northeast of Kalgoorlie.

The tenements encompass 355sq km of ground.
