Western Australia-based explorer E79 Gold Mines (ASX: E79) reports that a recently completed gravity survey at its Jungar Flats projects in the Murchison goldfields has pinpointed parts of the Big Bell shear.

New targets have been identified under cover, and the location of the greenstone belt has been defined on the western edge of the Big Bell shear.

E79 Gold has 683 sq km of prospective ground within its two flagship projects — Jungar Flats located 70km west of Meekatharra, and Laverton South located 130km northeast of Kalgoorlie in the Laverton tectonic zone.

Between them, the two mineral provinces are endowed with about 30 million ounces of gold (so far).

Survey allows exploration to focus on most prospective area

The company has described the projects as having a mix of early-stage greenfield exploration and walk-up drill targets.

Chief executive officer Ned Summerhayes said the completed survey at Jungar Flats had successfully mapped the interpreted northern extent of the “highly prospective” Big Bell shear as well as associated greenstone units under cover which traverse the core of the tenements.

“Cross-cutting structures are also visible along the greenstone, as well as a more extensive dolerite unit that forms a topographic high,” he added.

The mapped dolerite in the central part of the project is interpreted to be more extensive at depth under cover to the south.

E79 Gold explains that a number of deposits within the Murchison region are located either on the Big Bell shear, or on splays off the shear.

Jungar Flats the focus while assays awaited from Laverton

“This work allows E79 Gold to focus its exploration efforts on the most prospective host units within the Jungar Flats project,” Mr Summerhayes said.

The company’s exploration focus is now moving to Jungar Flats.

E79 Gold has completed a large reconnaissance air-core drilling program at Laverton South, and meanwhile will concentrate on Jungar Flats while it awaits the Laverton assays.

Jungar Flats lies 45km northeast of the Big Bell 2Moz gold deposit.

It covers 336 sq km with about 30km of strike on the Big Bell shear.

E79 Gold Mines listed on the ASX in October with plans to rank and drill targets within the tenement holdings with 50,000m of drilling planned for its first year of activity as a listed company.
