E2 Metals (ASX: E2M) will next week resume drilling at its Conserrat gold-silver project in Argentina.

The company describes its upcoming drilling program as “aggressive and ambitious”.

Conserrat, located in Santa Cruz province, is host to a greenfields gold and silver discovery centred 25km along strike from the Cerro Vanguardia silver-gold mined operated by AngloGold Ashanti (ASX: AGG).

Cerro Vanguardia is the largest epithermal vein field in the Santa Cruz province with historical and current resources estimated to be 8.9 million ounces of gold and 137Moz of silver.

Drilling to define gold-silver mineralisation

The program now beginning will complete phase one diamond drilling at the Malvina and Emilia prospects and aims to define the limits of the gold and silver mineralised veins confirmed at the end of June.

Scout drilling will take place at Silvia, Florencia Norte — in this case also continuing from last season — and Andrea to test priority soil anomalies.

There will also be scout drilling at Malvina Sur and Ro Este prospects to target the extension of known vein trends under shallow basalt cover.

Trenching also planned for prospects

In addition, an initial phase of up to 800m of trenching is planned at El Volcan, where rock chips samples returned up to 3 grams per tonne gold and 207g/t silver.

Conserrat Norte, where mapping and sampling has defined a gold and silver mineralised structures over as much a 1.1km, will also see trenching work.

The combined trench and drill program will test 10 new structures with the goal of making further high-grade discoveries, largely in areas with shallow cover, the company added.

E2 Metals managing director Todd Williams said the upcoming “aggressive and ambition” exploration program will leverage on learning the lessons learned from last year’s season, and will aim at delivering new gold and silver discoveries within the project.

Drilling is going ahead despite longer than anticipated turnaround times with assay results, with delays in this space being experienced globally.
