E2 Metals managing director Todd Williams says the results from Target 38 along with those for Target 37 confirm the company has discovered a new gold mineralised district at El Rosillo.

Systematic surface sampling at the El Rosillo project in the western Rio Negro province of Argentina has defined two zones of gold mineralisation for owner E2 Metals (ASX: E2M).

A total of 1,291 samples were collected from the project’s Target 38 (T38) prospect, covering an east-west elongate zone of Jurassic dykes, stocks, veins and stockwork veinlets which outcrop over an area of 2km by 1km.

The results revealed two distinct zones of gold mineralisation within what E2 refers to as Area A and Area B.

Area A

At Area A, the mineralisation is defined over a 900m by 500m block and comprises an array of northwest and east-west orientated trends, including a high-grade zone orientated east-west over a 550m strike.

Mineralisation is open to the east, north and west and results included 80m at 1.8 grams per tonne gold; 20m at 2g/t; 20m at 1.2g/t; 60m at 1g/t; 40m at 10.9g/t; and 80m at 11g/t.

Area B

Area B has been defined over a 1,100m by 900m block and comprises northwest and northeast trends which intersect in the eastern prospect area.

It includes a northwest zone defined over 150m strike and open to the northwest, which returned 20m at 4.9g/t gold; 20m at 5.2g/t; 40m at 1.2g/t; and 20m at 8.8g/t.

A northeast zone within the same area over 250m strike and open to the southwest returned 80m at 2.2g/t gold; 20m at 15g/t; and 20m at 2.2g/t.

Area B also has wide zones of mineralisation over an area of 500 square meters where the northwest and northeast trends intersect.

Select sample intervals from this zone included 20m at 4.7g/t gold; 20m at 11g/t; 20m at 3.2g/t; and 80m at 1.3g/t.

E2 said the mineralisation at all prospects disappears under shallow gravel cover.

Composite rock grid

Given the prevalence of outcrop in the target area as well as the widespread distribution of gold at El Rosillo and other intrusion-related gold (IRG) systems, E2 decided to complete a systematic composite rock grid to better determine the possible tenor and distribution of gold mineralisation at the T38 and Target 37 prospects.

Managing director Todd Williams said the T38 samples complemented a large gold mineralised system announced in May at T37.

“The results for both targets confirm the discovery of a new gold mineralised district at El Rosillo approximately 3km by 2km [in size],” he said.

“It has been only four months since our first reconnaissance field trip to Rio Negro [and we are] well placed to leverage our first mover position in this newly-recognised area which has never been systematically explored.”
